Logistics

The many complementary modes of transport make the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (air, rail, sea, river and road) a multimodal platform at the traffic intersection between the Rhone Valley and Southern Europe (Spain and Italy).

Ways and means

The efficient motorway network ensures that the Nice, Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence conurbations are less than one hour’s drive from the centre of the Var, which is at the A8 and A57 motorway intersection.

The "sea motorway" mode is being developed at the Toulon Commercial Port as an alternative to road transport. The goods terminal, located on the main Italy/France/Spain artery, is the linchpin of the industrial complex dedicated to sea-going freight linked to the European rail and road networks, with customs accreditation (temporary customs clearance warehouse and area zone), with guarded vehicle parking….
Toulon’s Commercial Port primarily handles very specific niche goods traffic such as sensitive goods and bulk goods transport by polyrail.
